Jamie Cole

My love affair with art and painting began in the mid 80s when my gaze shifted from the AFL field to the electric and vibrant pop world of Lichtenstein and Warhol, and the submerged, stained and saturated depths of Rothko’s canvas. This romance continues, but it is the influence of the political, abstract and revolutionary work of Basquiat, and my idol and soul mate Keith Haring, that leap from my own canvases today. I now paint full-time and have racked up a string of solo and group shows. My instantly recognizable style of acrylic & mixed media work is influenced by my love and respect for the Pop Art movement, my background in photography and stint as an illustrator & graphic designer. I create beautiful vibrant paintings, all with my signature touch of collage applied. Each day I try to bring a little more colour & happiness to this world and I hope you enjoy viewing my work as much as I enjoy creating them!
