Cheryl has found great satisfaction painting many commissioned pet portraits, capturing the individuality of our four legged friends. She has painted ‘Slim, the Salty Blue Heeler’ in a moments rest, after a day of beach cricket with the kids.
Cheryl Howlett moved to Kiama in 2011 and found a wealth of inspiration in the natural beauty around her. After joining the Kiama Art Society that same year, she entered her work ‘Sliding on Base’ in the society’s 23rd Annual Exhibition and took first prize in the portraiture category. Cheryl has continued this success with multiple prizes and peoples’ choices awards for her various entries in subsequent local shows and exhibitions.
Painting predominantly in oils for over 20 years, Cheryl now explores a greater range of mediums, including Acrylics, Water Colour, Printing and Soft Pastels. Experimenting with diverse subject matter and styles, Cheryl seeks to explore the world around her, painting pets, landscapes, flora and fauna… all that piques her interest and holds her gaze.
