The inspiration for Alexandra’s bat was the beautiful journey from Jamberoo to Berry through the hills and winding roads. The piece is a representation of not only the visual beauty of the surrounding landscape but also a personal journey of self-discovery and the meaning of home and belonging to a place. The colours, warm oranges and pinks reflect a feeling of comfort and fondness for ones surrounds with the shapes and lines a reflection of a road well-travelled.
Alexandra Strong has been painting for as long as she can remember. Self-taught, her artworks are a reflection of her life and surrounds on the beautiful South Coast of New South Wales from the lush rolling hills of Berry and Jamberoo to the beaches of Kiama. The shapes of the local landscape, ocean and rock pools are a constant source of inspiration and come to life in her watercolour and acrylic paintings.
