The Fruit Bat came about after an invitation was sent to Auguste Blackman, Heather Philpott, Kathy Karas and Maggie Henderson to share their story of painting for Will. The stories were to be sent to Channel 7 for the story they are doing on Will and the Friends of Will Exhibition. Auguste suggested that whilst we were talking we should paint a bat! So we all gathered in Kiama at the park and found a beautiful space in the sunshine, Paints and brushes and chairs were organised and suddenly the fruit bat came to life after everyone decided what fruit they would paint whilst talking. Auguste is a champion with ideas and what was created on this day was so beautiful. It was then decided to pass the bat on to other artists and allow the story of Will to continue.
