Pamela has been influenced by the Scottish landscape especially in her recent work. Settled in Australia for a number of years, she enjoys the brightness of light making everything more vibrant. She loves the work of textile / interior designer Tricia Guild and British Craft Textile artist Michael Brennand Wood. Anything can trigger an idea or inspiration, a traditional costume, a beautiful interior, a combination of fabrics, tortured wood, European ceramics, textiles and stained glass. Having also lived in New Zealand the maori culture and paua shell is evident in her work. She currently helps organise a number of exhibitions such as the Catholic Care Art Show and the Art for Refugee Art Show. She has completed a number of local commissions and has her work displayed in Illawarra businesses.
Some of her work is also displayed in Juanita’s Studio Gallery, Asquith St, Austinmer. Pamela teaches art at Wollongong High School for the Performing Arts and is active in sharing her talents with local young artists. “I enjoy the frisson that emanates when unexpected materials are combined.”
