In Margaret’s words “I like to paint the Australian way of life, my life- the beach the landscape and the colourful characters I meet and observe. Margaret’s lively approach is using tenacious, bold brushstrokes and her love of colour brings people and places to life from her heart. Margaret paints with such passion it helps create stories of captured moments.
Margaret lives in Sylvania with Husband Pedro and Daughter Gabriela.
Margaret has taught and demonstrated art materials for 30 years; and for the last 15 years has worked as “Artist in Residence” in local schools- Sydney and Melbourne creating large scale murals.
She continues to paint from the heart with great passion and inspiration from favourite artists such as Brett Whitely, John Olsen, Wendy Sharpe, Margaret Olley and Margaret Preston.
Margaret is a volunteer guide at Hazelhurst Regional Art Gallery, a member of Art on Flinders and Oatley 101.
Margaret has been engaged in the community involving herself in many group exhibitions and recently entering her first Art Prize and Winning the 2017- The Ardency Oatley 101 Art Prize judged by Wendy Sharpe. “A wonderfully un-selfconscious, joyous painting. Although it feels as though it comes from personal experience, it can touch us all. The lively brush strokes add to the mood of celebration, in spite of the brewing storm above.” Wendy Sharpe Margaret was also a semi finalist in the Doug Moran National Portrait Prize 2017. Margaret is included in private collections in Canada, North America ,Holland and in Australia at Wollongong University, Society Generale and Lend Lease Corporation.
