I take as inspiration, the great Australian landscape and culture, living and painting “en Plein Air”. My work explores the way colours interact and behave in various combinations and affect the tonal values in all my compositions.
Because each work can take over 30 hours of invested focus, I am rarely inspired to explore the same subject more than once. I will often include strictly figurative elements to lend narrative and legitimacy to a piece, but avoid clearly defining every single detail, preferring an active viewer once they are engaged. What fascinates me is the concept of connection and apparent disconnection of all things
